The idea for a bicycle film festival (in Edinburgh) was raised in 2005 as another way of promoting cycling. Spokes (the Lothian Cycle Campaign) has been doing this for nearly 30 years and is a partner in the recently created TryCycling in Edinburgh campaign which represents various cycling interests.
Words below from initial proposal.
WHY? Why not! Because it’s a good idea that was started in New York by Brendt Barbur and is slowly spreading around the world – see – bicyclefilmfestival.com. He started one in London and Leicester has its own version bikefilmfestival.org – and now so does Edinburgh (well it is the Festival City)!
WHAT? An eclectic mix of commercial films and films/videos by people excited about cycling. Some will already have been released, others currently in production.
WHO? So far, a small number of people involved in bicycle things like Spokes, The Bike Station and TryCycling in Edinburgh. We are looking for advice, support, help etc. etc.

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am a film maker based in India interested in submitting a docu film I have made recently that deals with how over 100,000 women got empowered after learning to cycle in one of the poorest parts of the world. Please advice when the next edition of your festival (or any other bicycle film festival that you know of), takes place and how I may submit my film. Thanks and a link to my project’s given below:
